Tim Baker

Board Advisor

Tim Baker is a Board Advisor of Kterio.  Tim is an accomplished executive in the commercial real estate development sector, both in the United States and on the global stage. He currently serves as the President of DRT Development Group, a commercial real estate development firm focused on forging deep relationships with all relevant stakeholders, while delivering superior service and returns for its investors, clients, and tenants.

Previously, Tim was an executive for some of the largest and most notable retailers in the U.S. and world. He began his career with Walmart’s start-up International Division, driving new market entries to numerous countries including China, Indonesia, and Brazil. Later, he led the development of over 3 million square feet of new retail development in the Caribbean. After transitioning to the U.S., Tim developed tens of millions of square feet of new retail across three time zones for Walmart. He helped build the foundation for a Company now doing nearly $0.6 trillion in annual sales. Additionally, he was a Regional Vice President for Safeway/Albertsons with responsibility for multiple banners and regions across 26 states and including 1,200+ facilities. He has also served as Senior Vice President of Real Estate and Development for the $10 billion Giant Eagle/GetGo chain of grocery and convenience stores.

Industry-leading innovation has three times resulted in Tim’s projects being recognized as the “Best Real Estate Deal,” twice in Dallas (Cockrell Hill Walmart and The Union Tom Thumb mixed-use tower) and once in Washington, D.C. for the Georgetown Safeway-anchored building. The latter being honored with double Gold Awards by ICSC for “Innovative Design” as well as “Sustainability.”

Tim studied at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville and received both B.A. and M.A. degrees from its Fulbright College.
